Blowing kisses in the wind 2006-12-13 - 11:15 a.m.
As I've mentioned before, my apartment building is somewhat under construction. They're redoing the exterior so there's scaffolding up all around the outside and outside of that is completely covered in white tarp-like plastic. Recently we've been having windstorms. It's so incredibly noisy as the tarps rattle in the wind and the scaffolding creaks. It doesn't help that we don't actually have windows. They're redoing those too. They've popped the glass out and our windows are just covered in a thin layer of opaque plastic. It blocks no sound. I was awakened by the noise at about 4:30 this morning (I'm working EOR today and Lolo has the day off again so we should've been able to sleep in) and spent the next hour just laying there listening to everything rattle and groan and sound like it was about to all come crashing down--wishing that it would come crashing down just so it would stop making noise. Of course, in restrospect I can see that wouldn't be such a good thing, but my sleepy 4:30am mind couldn't think of anything it would like better--except maybe just for the wind to stop.
One Good Thing: Everything did not blow over 8 weeks, 3 days |
